Regulatory compliance

Water management is grounded in compliance with current environmental regulations, as the foundation for responsible and reliable operations. We maintain a strong focus on operational control, monitoring, and continuous improvement to ensure compliance with standards related to water use, treatment, and management.

As part of our sustainability strategy, we continuously strengthen supervision, auditing, and risk management processes, progressing toward full and sustained regulatory compliance, including specific discharge quality targets such as NOM-001-SEMARNAT-2021.

This approach is part of a broader vision integrating data, traceability, and technical evidence to ensure responsible water management.

Responsible water use

Responsible water use is managed through an efficiency and measurement approach across our entire value chain.

Beyond total water consumption, we evaluate how much water is required per unit of food produced, enabling informed decisions and continuous improvement.

Our Baseline

In 2025, we established an integrated water efficiency baseline:

4.49 m³ of water per ton of product (equivalent to 4.49 liters per kilogram)

This indicator considers water use across the entire production chain: feed production, farms, and processing plants.

Biodiversity Sanctuaries

Biodiversity conservation is part of how we operate within the territory.

We operate in a region of high biological richness, and we work to protect, monitor, and understand the ecosystems where we are present.

Our strategy combines:

  • Conservation of vegetated areas
  • Generation of scientific information
  • Flora and fauna monitoring

Our goal is to build knowledge about the territory to improve decision-making and contribute to long-term conservation.

Responsible land use

We recognize that food production requires land use, but also that this resource must be managed responsibly with a long-term vision.

Currently, more than 90% of the land under Kekén’s management remains undeveloped or preserves vegetation, mainly in farms and rural complexes.

We manage more than 15,000 hectares, most of which are conserved as part of the natural environment.

  • In farms, vegetation conservation is part of our territorial and biosecurity model.
  • In plants and urban facilities, the focus is on efficient space use and environmental control.

Circularity

We use resources responsibly, reducing waste and closing production cycles.

One example is the use of biosolids as soil enhancers in agricultural activities, allowing nutrients to be reintegrated in a controlled manner.
