Conservation Area

As a company committed to protecting nature,

in 2012 we launched an initiative called “Biodiversity Sanctuaries”, a program aimed at the sustainable management of more than 15,000 hectares of Mayan rainforest in Yucatán. This strategy focuses on promoting and preserving biodiversity.

This strategy gives us the opportunity to replicate conservation areas

in the different areas where we operate through our value chain, which includes technified farms, feed mills and processing plants.
Over the years, we have not only designated these spaces for conservation, but we have also promoted alliances with research centers to conduct field studies and understand the life forms that develop and reproduce in these environments.

The natural areas that are part of our "Biodiversity Sanctuaries" program are located in seven communities in Yucatán.

About the Studies

At our Sahé processing plant, we have documented the presence of threatened and endangered species, such as the anteater, the ocelot, the ocellated turkey, the jaguarundi, and the seven-colored bunting, using camera traps. This discovery, in accordance with NOM 059-SEMARNAT-2010, reinforces our commitment to biodiversity conservation and monitoring. We implement proactive measures to protect these species and their habitat, demonstrating that our operations are in harmony with nature.

At Kekén, we are proud of our conservation initiatives and the positive impact we can have on biodiversity.

We continue to work with dedication and responsibility to protect and preserve the ecosystems where we operate, maintaining our commitment to biodiversity as an integral part of our mission.
